NigeriaFriends is committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information on our Web site. By using Nigeria Friends, you consent to the data practices described in this statement. Collection of your Personal Information
When you register for the NigeriaFriends Service, you provide your first name, last name, date of birth, email address and a password. All these details are compulsory and must be provided at the point of registration. Further information is required of you when you add yourself to a school. The information you provide at this stage is your year of leaving and optionally your surname on leaving, nickname and some notes about yourself. The information you provide at registration is available for viewing and changing through ‘Your Details’ page on the website. You may view/edit your information for any of your schools by clicking the ‘Edit Details’ link beside the school name on the ‘My Schools’ page. You may also remove yourself from a school by clicking the ‘Remove yourself’ link beside the school name on the ‘My Schools’ page.
Use of your Personal Information
NigeriaFriends uses your personal information to operate the NigeriaFriends site and to provide the services made available on the website. The information is also used to communicate with you regarding your NigeriaFriends account by sending out periodic newsletters that are considered as essential to the operation of the service. The non-personal information may be used to compile general demographic statistics which may be shared in the aggregate with NigeriaFriends advertisers. We use your e-mail address as your service username. We chose this since this ensures that everyone has a unique username and the username is easy to remember.
We also use your e-mail address to respond to incoming service and support requests from you, to collect customer feedback, customer satisfaction surveys, sweepstakes notices, and other service informational mailings. NigeriaFriends may disclose your Personal Information if required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on NigeriaFriends; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of NigeriaFriends or the users of NigeriaFriends; or, (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of NigeriaFriends or the public. Personally identifiable information collected by NigeriaFriends may be stored and processed in the United Kingdom or any other country in which NigeriaFriends’, subsidiaries or agents maintain facilities, and by using this site, you consent to any such transfer of information outside of your country.
Sharing your Personal Information with Other Companies
Except as otherwise described in this statement, NigeriaFriends will share your personal information with other companies only with your consent. This consent is given/declined at the point of registering or later on the ‘My Details’ page. If consent is given, NigeriaFriends may share your personal data with our partners who may send you marketing emails from time to time. These partners are obliged to remove you from their mailing lists should you wish not to receive further emails from any of them. NigeriaFriends will not have any responsibility/liability for any transactions between you and such third party companies.
Changes to your Personal Information
You may update or edit the personal information you have shared with NigeriaFriends, at any time when you are on the NigeriaFriends Web site, from within the ‘My Details’ section. You will have access to this section only after logging into the website. If you wish to have your details removed from our systems, you may email us at support@nigeria-friends.com. For action to be taken as requested, you will have to send this email from the same email address as the one used to register.
If you have chosen to receive information from NigeriaFriends and then at a later date decide you do not wish to continue receiving such information, you can unsubscribe by following the instructions in the e-mail. If you are not currently receiving NigeriaFriends information and you would like to, you can do so by the following the instructions outlined below. To do this:
1. From the homepage, log in by entering your username and password.
2. Click on the ‘My Details’ button.
3. Modify your information and click the Update button to save the changes.

Security of your Personal Information
NigeriaFriends secures your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. NigeriaFriends secures the personally identifiable information you provide on computer servers in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. Sensitive information such as credit/debit card details are not collected/stored by NigeriaFriends. Such details are required when payment is being made through WorldPay.
WorldPay handles these payment transactions through the use of state of the art encryption such as Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.
Use of Cookies
A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.
NigeriaFriends does not use cookies. However, we sometimes integrate 3rd party products with our site and some of these may use cookies. These products include forums and polls.
Use of Third Party Ad Networks
The NigeriaFriends may include interactive advertising for other businesses. We may use, and provide to third parties, anonymised demographic data provided by Members to target this advertising more appropriately.
Search Engines
Search engines like Google, Yahoo and others use crawler programmes to scan the Nigeria Friends site for the purpose of indexing.
This may result in names of members appearing on these search engines. Nigeria Friends has no control over this and will be unable to prevent it.
